ISAIAH 51:15-16 (NKJV)
15But I am the Lord your God,
Who divided the sea whose waves roared—
The Lord of hosts is His name.
16And I have put My words in your mouth; [Emphasis Added]
I have covered you with the shadow of My hand,
That I may plant the heavens,
Lay the foundations of the earth, [Emphasis Added]
And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”

Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,
Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

ISAIAH 32:1-8
1Behold, a king will reign in righteousness,
And princes will rule with justice.
2A man will be as a hiding place from the wind,
And a cover from the tempest,
As rivers of water in a dry place,
As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
3The eyes of those who see will not be dim,
And the ears of those who hear will listen.
4Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge,
And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
5The foolish person will no longer be called generous,
Nor the miser said to be bountiful;
6For the foolish person will speak foolishness,
And his heart will work iniquity:
To practice ungodliness,
To utter error against the Lord,
To keep the hungry unsatisfied,
And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
7Also the schemes of the schemer are evil;
He devises wicked plans
To destroy the poor with lying words,
Even when the needy speaks justice.
8But a generous man devises generous things,
And by generosity he shall stand.

The family was the first institution God established. It is the building unit of both the church and the nation. From the first family, God created, His plan has always been that all the subsequent families on earth would choose to worship Him willingly. In this way, God’s blessings would be released on the earth. The same love and relationships that are experienced in the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, would then be manifested in the human family: husband, wife and children. Satan the deceiver of the nations has created idolatrous systems of worship that take people away from this divine plan.

The beginning of the family is the union between a man and a woman (Genesis 1:27; 2:24). The devil is opposed to everything that God establishes and so the family is one of the institutions the devil targets to corrupt and eventually destroy. In destroying the family unit, Satan aims at destroying the society; his agenda is always to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). When the family order disintegrates, the societal order also disintegrates. Statistics on criminality clearly indicate that broken homes are a major influence of those who become lawless. Since the father’s absence or abusive behaviour is the most damaging factor in a broken family unit, men become Satan’s major target.

Our Constitution under “Social and Economic Objectives” states in section XIX that: “The family is the natural and basic unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State. In Satan’s opposition to everything God established, the family is a focal area of his work to corrupt and eventually destroy. Thus a lot of idolatry and witchcraft is practiced at the family level. The family is corrupted when through idolatry God is no longer the centre of worship and some other being or something has taken His rightful place. Ultimately God’s plan for the earth will be fulfilled as families remember and return to the Lord. May your family and relations be part of this unfolding plan.

Genesis 1: 27,28
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

1 Corinthians 8:6
…yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord
Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Praise God for our own families where we learn good governance. We learn to govern ourselves so as to live peaceably with others and we also learn how to lead others under our care.

Deuteronomy 5:16
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.”

Give thanks for the opportunity of family bonding and re-union during the COVID-19 lockdown. Though there have been negative impacts in some families, what has not been reported much are the positive things that happened. Fathers and mothers connected with their children and other family members spending quality time together that for some was a rare occurrence in the past. Spouses have reconnected and family altars have been established or revived, to the glory of the Lord!

Give thanks to God for the gift of provision for families, from food and employment, to healing and deliverance. Our Lord cares more about our family members than the sparrows or the lilies of the field. Thank God for the provisions that he enabled your family to have this year especially during the lockdown.

2 Timothy 1:3-7
3I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Timothy was the third in generations of sincere faith – note that each generation had sincere faith. God’s plan was for parents to pass on the godly values/morals to their children. When family life is lived in accordance with the laws and principles of God, virtues are passed to the next generation.

Behold, God is raising true fathers and mothers for our society and for the church who will lead their families in righteousness and justice. They will disciple their families in the ways of the Lord. They will be a hiding place from the wind for their families and a cover from the storms of society. Our homes will become havens of safety and security – a place of refuge that we can run back to and find love and acceptance. Fathers and mothers will be a source of refreshment and renewal to their families as rivers of water in a dry place. They will be a covering from the heat that has come upon this generation, just like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. Children and all in the household will grow and become much better than when they came into the family. Their eyes and ears will be opened so that their eyes will not be dim, neither will their ears be dull. Those who are rash, careless and ignorant will gain understanding of knowledge, and

the tongue of the stammerers will be trained to speak plainly. Love and honor will be restored to their true meanings in the family. The elders will regain their respect and honor. Generosity will abound and foolishness and wickedness in the home will be banished. Child molesters and abusers, abortionists and all who practice iniquity and ungodliness, and those who

utter error against the Lord, keep the hungry unsatisfied, and cause the drink of the thirsty to fail, will have no place in the new season that is emerging. So will those who scheme evil and devise wicked plans to destroy the family with lying words through education and projects meant to destroy the family morally and physically through sterilization in vaccinations. Rather the generous and upright will stand and those who practice parenting and family life according to God’s design will flourish. The homeless and street children will be placed in families.

God’s ordained order for family life will be the new normal. Our families will became havens of love and peace where the fruit of the Spirit is cultivated and children grow up in the fear of the Lord. Fathers and mothers will be honored and respected and our children will live long in the land – life expectancy will increase as a result. Our families will become a true reflection of the Trinity – the love and unity between Father, Son and Holy Spirit as God intended them to be from the very beginning.
