PRAYER GUIDE

ISAIAH 51:15-16 (NKJV)
15But I am the Lord your God,
Who divided the sea whose waves roared—
The Lord of hosts is His name.
16And I have put My words in your mouth; [Emphasis Added]
I have covered you with the shadow of My hand,
That I may plant the heavens,
Lay the foundations of the earth, [Emphasis Added]
And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”

JEREMIAH 1:9,10 (ESV)
Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,
Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

EZEKIEL 37: 3-5, 7, 9, 10
And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, [Emphasis Added] O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live….
So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, [Emphasis Added] and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone…
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, [Emphasis Added] Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on
these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, [Emphasis Added] and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

MARK 11:13-14
And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he
came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, [Emphasis Added] “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. [Emphasis Added]

MARK 11:22-24
And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, [Emphasis Added] whoever says to this mountain, [Emphasis Added] Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says [Emphasis Added] will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, [Emphasis Added] believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

GUIDING TEXT FOR THE FASTING SEASON

ISAIAH 32:1-8

1Behold, a king will reign in righteousness,
And princes will rule with justice.
2A man will be as a hiding place from the wind,
And a cover from the tempest,
As rivers of water in a dry place,
As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
3The eyes of those who see will not be dim,
And the ears of those who hear will listen.
4Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge,
And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
5The foolish person will no longer be called generous,
Nor the miser said to be bountiful;
6For the foolish person will speak foolishness,
And his heart will work iniquity:
To practice ungodliness,
To utter error against the Lord,
To keep the hungry unsatisfied,
And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
7Also the schemes of the schemer are evil;
He devises wicked plans
To destroy the poor with lying words,
Even when the needy speaks justice.
8But a generous man devises generous things,
And by generosity he shall stand.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION & GEOPOLITICS

Geopolitics is the way in which geography and other structural constraints shape people and nations. Geopolitics refers to international political relations, as influenced by geographical factors. It is a method of studying foreign policy to understand, explain and predict international political behavior through geographical variables. It also touches on the global economy, including trade patterns and the risks of militarized disputes. Geopolitics links political power to geographic space.

Over time mankind has communalized into social structures. Large groups of individuals with the same languages and cultures come together to cooperate in political, economic and other structures to form nations. The world is a “community of nations”. God is the King of the Nations and expects nations to conduct their international relations through an acknowledgment, to some degree, of his sovereignty and in accordance with his precepts and principles. The foreign policies or international relations practiced by nations in biblical days may not all be biblically inapplicable to our modern world, but the principles and values remain as truth and do not change, since God is the author of all truth and all morality. The prophets did not only address Israel; they addressed all the nations. For example Prophet Amos held pagan nations morally responsible to Jehovah for their relations with other nations. He condemns Syria, Gaza, Edom, Ammon, and Moab for invasions and violations of other nations’ sovereignty (Amos 1:3-2:16).

A very good example of international cooperation is that between King Solomon of Israel and King Hiram of Tyre. Solomon had been charged with building the temple and though his father King David left a lot of resources for the task, they were not enough to complete the work. Through international cooperation between the Kings of Israel and Tyre, the assignment was completed to the glory of God. In His wisdom, God has distributed resources all over the world. He expects nations to fulfill purpose and destiny through international cooperation and fair trade, not through manipulation, oppression and theft fueled by greed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs oversees Uganda’s international relations. Its history dates back to just before independence in 1962 and from 9th October 1962-1966, when it was housed under the office of the Prime Minister. Its mission is to promote and protect Uganda’s interests abroad. The ministry coordinates foreign policy development and its implementation.

SCRIPTURES FOR PRAYER AND PROCLAMATION

READ 2 CHRONICLES CHAPTER 2

MATTHEW 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

ISAIAH 40:15-18
Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales;
behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.
Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering.
All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and
emptiness.
To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?

DANIEL 2:21
Daniel answered and said:

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding

DANIEL 4:34-35
At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to
me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever,
for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to
generation;
all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among
the host of heaven
and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand
or say to him, “What have you done?”

ACTS 17:26
And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having
determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place…

ACTS 10:34
So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in
every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.

DEUTERONOMY 32:8
When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind,
he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.

LEVITICUS 19:33,34
“When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

ISAIAH 2:1-4
It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.

ISAIAH 60:18
Violence shall no more be heard in your land, devastation or destruction within your borders;
you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.

WORSHIP GOD THE KING OF THE NATIONS

JEREMIAH 10:6,7
There is none like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is great in might.
Who would not fear you, O King of the nations? For this is your due; for among all the wise ones of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like you.
Let us worship Jehovah-Bara – the Lord Creator of heaven and earth for the way he has arranged the mountains, hills, valleys, lakes, oceans, rivers and all that mark the boundaries of nations; Who has positioned every nation in the world.

THANK GOD FOR:

  • The leadership at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
