PRAYER GUIDE

ISAIAH 51:15-16 (NKJV)
15But I am the Lord your God,
Who divided the sea whose waves roared—
The Lord of hosts is His name.
16And I have put My words in your mouth; [Emphasis Added]
I have covered you with the shadow of My hand,
That I may plant the heavens,
Lay the foundations of the earth, [Emphasis Added]
And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”

JEREMIAH 1:9,10 (ESV)
Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,
Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

EZEKIEL 37: 3-5, 7, 9, 10
And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, [Emphasis Added] O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live….
So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, [Emphasis Added] and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone…
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, [Emphasis Added] Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on
these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, [Emphasis Added] and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

MARK 11:13-14
And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he
came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, [Emphasis Added] “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. [Emphasis Added]

MARK 11:22-24
And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, [Emphasis Added] whoever says to this mountain, [Emphasis Added] Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says [Emphasis Added] will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, [Emphasis Added] believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

GUIDING TEXT FOR THE FASTING SEASON

ISAIAH 32:1-8

1Behold, a king will reign in righteousness,
And princes will rule with justice.
2A man will be as a hiding place from the wind,
And a cover from the tempest,
As rivers of water in a dry place,
As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
3The eyes of those who see will not be dim,
And the ears of those who hear will listen.
4Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge,
And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
5The foolish person will no longer be called generous,
Nor the miser said to be bountiful;
6For the foolish person will speak foolishness,
And his heart will work iniquity:
To practice ungodliness,
To utter error against the Lord,
To keep the hungry unsatisfied,
And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
7Also the schemes of the schemer are evil;
He devises wicked plans
To destroy the poor with lying words,
Even when the needy speaks justice.
8But a generous man devises generous things,
And by generosity he shall stand.

LAND MANAGEMENT

The very first verse in the Bible is a statement of ownership. Jehovah God created the earth and owns it. He gave it to man to be His representative in the visible realm. It was to be managed in accordance with His laws for fruitfulness and increase. With the Fall of Man, greed set in. As man increased on earth, so did conflicts regarding land and property ownership.

When God called Israel from Egypt He gave instructions on how they were to allocate the land given to them. The eighth commandment is one of the shortest. It addresses stealing another person’s property. Strong warnings were also given regarding landmarks and their violation. At least five texts in the Bible give strong injunctions against moving ancient boundary marks on any land. With the passage of time, leaders and powerful individuals arose who used their wealth, power and influence to deprive the poor of their inheritance. God first warned and then judged them severely. In his letter to the Corinthians (who were Gentiles), Apostle Paul stated that the Old Testament scriptures were written for our instruction (1 Corinthians 10:6).

In Uganda, land disputes are the most significant form of conflict, with many escalating into violence. One study indicated that up to 50% of landholders have experienced some form of conflict over their boundaries. The greatest numbers of disputes are currently in Northern Uganda districts and some parts of Hoima and Amuru District where oil has recently been discovered and where the government has given away large tracts of land. These conflicts have a negative impact on national productivity as well as equity.

SCRIPTURES FOR PRAYER AND PROCLAMATION

GENESIS 1:1, 9
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

PSALM 24:1,2
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.

DEUTERONOMY 32:8
When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind,|
he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.

ACTS 17:26,27
And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.

EXODUS 20:17
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.

DEUTERONOMY 19:14
“You shall not move your neighbor’s landmark, which the men of old have set, in the inheritance
that you will hold in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.

DEUTERONOMY 27:17
‘Cursed be anyone who moves his neighbor’s landmark.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

PROVERBS 22:28
Do not move the ancient landmark that your fathers have set.

PROVERBS 23:10, 11
Do not move an ancient landmark or enter the fields of the fatherless,
for their Redeemer is strong; he will plead their cause against you.

HOSEA 5:10
The princes of Judah have become like those who move the landmark;
upon them I will pour out my wrath like water.

LEVITICUS 25:23
“The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine…

PSALM 37: 9-13
For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.
But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.
The wicked plots against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him, but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he sees that his day is coming.

PSALM 37:22
for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land, but those cursed by him shall be cut off.

MICAH 2:1-3
Woe to those who devise wickedness and work evil on their beds!
When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in the power of their hand.
They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them away;
they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.
Therefore thus says the Lord: behold, against this family I am devising disaster, from which you cannot remove your necks, and you shall not walk haughtily, for it will be a time of disaster.

ISAIAH 5:8, 9
Woe to those who join house to house, who add field to field,
until there is no more room, and you are made to dwell alone in the midst of the land. The Lord of hosts has sworn in my hearing: “Surely many houses shall be desolate, large and beautiful houses, without inhabitant.

WORSHIP GOD THE LANDLORD OF THE WHOLE EARTH

THANK GOD FOR:

  • The beautiful and rich land that He has given Ugandans as an inheritance
  • The laws that protect property rights that are in line with Scripture

PROCLAMATION FOR LAND MANAGEMENT

God is raising leaders at all levels of land management in Uganda that will handle land matters
with righteous and justice

The poor and those that do not have access to justice will no longer be deprived of their inheritance
by the rich, powerful and connected

Land disputes will be settled in a timely manner

Law enforcers will severely deal with land grabbers and fraudsters

Investigative mechanisms will be strong

Courts will no longer take ages to dispose of cases

The land registry will be cleaned up and operations will be streamlined to ensure that land
registration and processing takes a short time

Politicians will no longer hold sway in interfering with justice on land matters

Corruption in the management of land and compensations will be curtailed

WE PRONOUNCE GOD’S SEVERE JUDGMENT AS THE SCRIPTURES STATE ON:

Those who move boundary marks.

Those who deprive the poor, the widows and orphans of their inheritance will come under severe
judgment.

Those who take away peoples’ land without adequate and timely compensation will come under
severe judgment.

Those who abuse their public offices by rushing to purchase land in places where they know government projects are going to be implemented and create artificial demand and then compensate themselves first leaving bonafide land owners empty handed.

Polices will be formulated that will lead to the efficient utilization of land. The challenges to development because of the way land ownership and acquisition is handled will be justly addressed.

AMEN
