PRAYER GUIDE

ISAIAH 51:15-16 (NKJV)
15But I am the Lord your God,
Who divided the sea whose waves roared—
The Lord of hosts is His name.
16And I have put My words in your mouth; [Emphasis Added]
I have covered you with the shadow of My hand,
That I may plant the heavens,
Lay the foundations of the earth, [Emphasis Added]
And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”

JEREMIAH 1:9,10 (ESV)
Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,
Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

EZEKIEL 37: 3-5, 7, 9, 10
And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, [Emphasis Added] O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live….
So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, [Emphasis Added] and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone…
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, [Emphasis Added] Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on
these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, [Emphasis Added] and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

MARK 11:13-14
And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he
came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, [Emphasis Added] “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. [Emphasis Added]

MARK 11:22-24
And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, [Emphasis Added] whoever says to this mountain, [Emphasis Added] Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says [Emphasis Added] will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, [Emphasis Added] believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

GUIDING TEXT FOR THE FASTING SEASON

ISAIAH 32:1-8

1Behold, a king will reign in righteousness,
And princes will rule with justice.
2A man will be as a hiding place from the wind,
And a cover from the tempest,
As rivers of water in a dry place,
As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
3The eyes of those who see will not be dim,
And the ears of those who hear will listen.
4Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge,
And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
5The foolish person will no longer be called generous,
Nor the miser said to be bountiful;
6For the foolish person will speak foolishness,
And his heart will work iniquity:
To practice ungodliness,
To utter error against the Lord,
To keep the hungry unsatisfied,
And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
7Also the schemes of the schemer are evil;
He devises wicked plans
To destroy the poor with lying words,
Even when the needy speaks justice.
8But a generous man devises generous things,
And by generosity he shall stand.

MANUFACTURING & INDUSTRY

Manufacturing is the production of products for use or sale using labour and machines, tools and chemical or biological processing. It ranges from handicrafts, as can be found in cottage industries to industrial design, which is large scale. The raw materials that God created provide the foundation for all manufacturing. God is a creator and a manufacturer. He fashioned the heavens and the earth. Today science is still studying and discovering amazing things related to His creation. After creation, manufacturing is mentioned in the Bible with reference to Tubal-Cain who is called, “the forger of all instruments of bronze and iron” (Genesis 4:22). Manufacturing was key in ancient times and features prominently in the building of both the tabernacle and the temple. The first time the Holy Spirit filled anyone in the Scripture was to anoint them to work in the field of manufacturing.

Manufacturing is vital in the transition of countries from low income to high-income status. Growth in manufacturing, especially in manufacturing machinery and the technology that goes with it, are critical drivers of economic growth. Without this, it is difficult to sustain long-term economic growth. If Uganda and Africa are to escape poverty, there must be a firm progress in this direction. The nations that control the production of manufacturing technology are the most influential globally. They go beyond merely building factories and manufacturing goods; they make the machinery that is used in factories. They control the means of production.

Manufacturing and industry are also significant drivers of employment. Most jobs depend directly or indirectly on manufacturing. Data from the World Bank indicates that in 2018, the Japanese manufacturing sector contributed 21% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP); in South Korea it contributed 27%, while in Uganda it only contributed 8%.The health of the economy is critically dependent on the health of the manufacturing industry. Uganda’s manufacturing sector must grow if the economy is to grow sustainably and move the country to middle income status and beyond.

Though Uganda has experienced significant growth in the services sector, it is important to note that services use manufactured goods. Retail and wholesale, which make up about 11% of the economy, are simply acts of trading in manufactured goods. The same applies to telecommunications, health, hospitality, transport, pharmaceuticals, education, etc. Agro-processing, food and beverages, household products, construction materials and fast-moving consumer goods dominate Uganda’s manufacturing sector. Most firms are small and medium enterprises concentrated in the Kampala and Central region. Most of the manufactured products are aimed at domestic consumption, and exports are limited to the regional markets. Exports to the developed countries on the other hand, are mainly unprocessed primary products and natural resources. This according to the Proverbs is like the man who captures an animal but cannot cook the catch. Value must be added to our raw materials and primary products in order to earn more from them.

The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old….

beforehand, that we should walk in them.

  • He gives ideas and anoints with skill

THANK GOD FOR:

  • The leaders in manufacturing and industry
  • The progress Uganda has made in manufacturing and industry over the decades. Many goods that used to be imported are now domestically produced e.g. soap, oil, cosmetics, packed milk, flours, etc.
  • The increase in electricity supply that has supported the growth in this sector.
  • Both the domestic and foreign investors who have invested in this sector.
  • The infrastructure e.g. roads and air transport that has supported the export of manufactured goods into the region.
  • The innovative spirit amongst the manufacturers who switched production to manufacturing of masks, face shields, touch free hand washing equipment and hand-sanitizers when COVID 10 struck. Thank God also for the employment opportunities arising from these initiatives.

PROCLAMATION FOR MANUFACTURING & INDUSTRY

God is raising leaders in manufacturing and industry who will lead in righteous and justice. Some will arise to become large scale industrialists but many will ran small scale manufacturing units through cottage industries in their homes and villages. There will be a breaking forth of new creativity and innovation that will translate into manufacturing and industry.

Many Ugandans will move to engage in the manufacturing sector and the profits made shall remain in the country.

Cooperatives will be revived and scaled up to manufacturing.

Electricity will be put to good use all across the country and there will be arrangements to ensure
ample surplus of cheap electricity for the many factories that will arise.

Savings from SACCOS and Microfinance institutions will support manufacturers and cottage
industries.

There will be adequate supply of long term financing for the larger industrial initiatives

As a result of refocusing, concerted efforts made in the education sector will result in a large pool of human resources for the manufacturing sector.

The required higher-technical and managerial skills will be built through training programs and
schools that meet the needs of the sector.

Well-facilitated industrial parks will be built and will have many indigenously owned industries.

The mining sector will be leveraged to support the manufacturing sector with the
abundantly available raw materials.

Policies that promote local manufacturing and discourage importation will be fully enacted
and enforced.

Uganda’s agricultural potential will feed into agro-processing for primary product value addition. There will be both light and heavy industries to utilizing locally available raw materials like iron ore to make machinery.

As a result Uganda will become an industrial hub and our fast growing population will be fully absorbed into the labour force.

AMEN
